For Elephants is now offering summer internship opportunities!

These internships will offer the unique opportunity for undergraduate students to gain hands-on experience in wildlife endocrinology, reproductive physiology, and conservation research!

The Summer 2024 Internship application period is now now closed.

Interns will receive training on basic laboratory skills and endocrinology methods under the supervision of For Elephants graduate students and laboratory technicians.

Interns will assist with data collection and processing for graduate projects, perform all phases of fecal sample preparation for hormone analysis, inventory lab supplies and merchandise, and participate in For Elephants, Inc. community outreach and fundraising events.

What are the qualifications for an internship?

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in natural resource sciences, animal sciences, biology, environmental sciences, or a related field.

  • Capacity to work on individual projects as well as the ability to work as a member of a team.

  • Possess basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.

  • Enthusiasm for wildlife conservation with professional goals in conservation-related fields.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Previous laboratory experience preferred, but not required.

What is the pay rate for the internships?

Internships are unpaid but can be used for college credit if desired. Letters of recommendation will also be provided upon successful completion of the internship.

How long do the internships last?

The summer internship will run from Tuesday, May 28th through Friday, August 2nd. It is expected that interns work three days a week from 9am-3pm for the entire duration of the internship. There is a 162 hour minimum for successful completion of this internship.
